What We’re Reading Wednesday – Lies Like Love

The next instalment of our new feature – Karen tells us about the book that’s caught her attention this week…

I’m currently reading Lies like Love by Louisa Reid. After reading a couple of reviews I ordered it for my school library and, because of what was said, it was one of those that I thought I ought to read first – definitely one of the perks of being a school librarian!

The story centres around 16 year old Audrey who has a very disturbing relationship with her mother who is both over protective and totally reliant on her daughter. The narrative alternates between Audrey and Leo, the boy she meets after moving to a new house, who, although they are yet to be revealed, obviously also has his own problems. I’m about a third of the way through and finding the book both compelling and disturbing. I would love to retreat to my office today and finish it, but somehow don’t think that’s going to happen….
